Global manufacturer of high voltage cable accessories PFISTERER GROUP, has teamed up with pioneering tech start-up Enertechnos to test their revolutionary cable, which has the potential to tackle the UK’s spiralling energy loss crisis.
A world leading specialist in energy transmission, distribution and Rail catenary systems, PFISTERER GROUP, whose UK base is in Sheffield, have been supporting Enertechnos with their testing of a revolutionary high-tech, low-loss solution. The Capacitive Transfer System (CTS) cable can drastically reduce energy losses, meaning less energy is wasted and carbon emissions are driven down.
Energy losses are little
known but have a devastating impact on the UK’s energy system. Losses that occur as energy moves across the sprawling network of cables total 26,500 GWh a year in the UK. This figure may not seem dramatic, but these losses are enough to power nearly seven million homes and cost the country £1.3 billion a year. Energy lost in transmission means more power has to be generated, increasing our reliance on fossil fuels, limiting the impact of renewables, and leaving customers out of pocket paying for energy they will never use.

Clive Betts to PFISTERER’s UK office to tour the site, meet with engineers and watch the cable in action, marking an important milestone in the development of the CTS.
